It was wonderful to meet Ann and her husband Kip in Asheville for the 85ers reunion. Ann detailed how she is intricately involved in the soccer community. She is still an avid coach and mentor for many young women who have gone on to compete professionally. Anna Heilferty, included in Ann’s episode, credited Ann with charting her professional growth and is now a player for the Washington Spirit in the NWSL.

If you had the chance to listen to Ann’s episode, you will hear her two daughters, Kim & Kelly, and former player Anna share one of their favorite stories of Ann (unbeknownst to them) – which both happened to be about Ann’s affinity for tree climbing. Her daughter Kelly sent several photos with Ann climbing to upwards of 30 feet to find the perfect viewpoint, even jumping up on the lowest branch to pull herself up.

Kelly & Kim also shared a few hilarious stories and photos showing Ann’s competitive side. At a 2 year olds birthday party she refused to concede a race to anyone (even the birthday boy!).  It was so fun to hear more of Ann’s goofy side. Throughout her soccer career it is clear Ann remains committed to her career as an engineer and raising her family. Ann’s commitment to getting all players involved and her continued involvement to positively impact her soccer communities is a great lesson for all of us to take away and to find other ways to stay connected.
