Flame Bearers: The Women Athletes Carrying Tokyo’s Torch celebrates the journeys of Tokyo’s unsung women Olympians & Paralympians and provides action-oriented analysis of the issues closest to their hearts.

This summer, more than 7,000 women Olympians and Paralympians will compete in Tokyo*

These will be the first Games in history that will have equal numbers of men and women athletes.…..this has never happened before.

And often, the women athletes are overlooked, as only 3.2% of US sports coverage goes to women, and this number is even lower globally.

This changes now. Their stories need to be heard. To light the way for women around the world. To offer hope. To inspire.

On Flame Bearers, these incredible athletes share real stories, from the first time they jumped in a pool, or picked up a ball, to protesting for racial justice, and winning their first medal.
